Mission for My Country is the autobiography of Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, the last Shah of Iran and a central figure in the history of the post-war Middle East. Written in the early 1960s, the book conveys the sovereign’s vision during a decisive period for the nation—an era shaped by decolonisation, the Cold War, and a rapid drive toward modernisation.

In these pages, Mohammad Reza Pahlavi reflects on Iran’s role in the geopolitical context of the time, the delicate balance between imperial heritage and the demands of progress, and the need to reconcile cultural identity with reform.

The book is an exclusive luxury edition, entirely handcrafted. Each copy is printed on 220 gsm handmade paper, hand-stitched using wooden frames according to traditional medieval bookbinding techniques. The covers are in blue leather , lined with silk. Two sculptures in copper and 24-karat gold form the front and back cover, making the book a true masterpiece.

The volume is enriched by a remarkable iconographic section, with original illustrations by Ilario Bertotti and Arcangelo Mizzoni, offering a solemn and symbolic visual narrative of Mohammad Reza Pahlavi. The collection is completed by a rare seventeenth-century engraving—graciously granted by the Archives of the Vatican Museums—depicting the legendary King Darius in battle.

An extraordinary book in which Italian artisanal excellence meets the vivid retelling of a historical era, entrusted to the voice of one of the twentieth century’s most emblematic figures.
